You are getting married because you love this person, don’t get hung up on the little things because at the end of the day a wedding is about the marriage and that marriage is much more than just one day, its forever.
Beautifully captured by Manawatu based photographer David LeDesign & Photography, this wedding is the perfect example of how you do not have to go crazy overboard with styling to create to perfect day; a stunning dress, a few fab diy projects, a gorgeous location and of course the ones you love (the key to it all!) Enjoy!
How did your love story begin?
It all began when he asked me to be his date for his High school ball. From then we dated for just over 6 years before he asked me to marry him.
Why did you say ‘Yes’?
He is my best friend and I couldn’t imagine spending the rest of life with anyone else. It feels like he knows me inside out, I can be myself round him and we have so much fun together.
What was your inspiration or theme for the day?
I grew up on a farm so I wanted a very natural and rustic look to my wedding. We have a small forest on our property and I just knew that was where my photos would be taken. I took ‘tying the knot’ quite literally, invites, table settings, photo backdrop, place settings all had some sort of rustic, hessian rope on them.
What were your Save & Splurge items?
We tried save by using simple decorations, from doing DIY favours for the guests, table numbers and having help from family and friends lending us anything from vases to crates and even the cars.
What music did you play for those special moments?
Walking down the aisle I had a good friend play an acoustic version of ‘Give Me Love’ By Ed Sheeran. Whilst we were signing the register we had another friend and Singer Play and sing ‘Make You Feel My Love’ By Adele and walked out with a spring in our step to ‘Just the Way You Are’ By Bruno Mars. Our first dance was ‘Kiss Me’ By Ed Sheeran.
In hindsight, is there anything that you would have done differently?
I don’t think that we would do anything differently; the day went really well. We were a little concerned of having a winter wedding but we couldn’t have had better weather for the beginning of August!
What advice would you give to future brides?
When I was getting worked up about my wedding plans my bridesmaid gave me some really good advice… you are getting married because you love this person, don’t get hung up on the little things because at the end of the day a wedding is about the marriage and that marriage is much more than just one day, its forever.
What do you love most about being MRS?”
I love being able to wake up next to him every morning, I feel so blessed to have him. I also like holding his hand and feeling his wedding band and thinking about all the good things to come!
