Verdict on Overkill

Recap

This movie follows a true crime podcaster who starts investigating the murder of a former roommate. However, the killer has been targeting true crime podcasters and she has become the latest target.

Best Parts

We get to dive into the world of a struggling podcaster and internet journalist. It shows how she balances the work and hobby side of her projects while dealing with struggling to make ends meet. This creates a well-lived world for Cassidy to take on the killer. It is also reflective of how many people are creating podcasts and not getting a big audience, showing the fans can enjoy their hobbies without needing an audience.

Worst Parts

When it comes to the killer, they can come off basic with their actions. They want to be known, but they seem to only leave mistakes behind them. It felt more like a slasher killer than a psychotic serial killer. Away from that side of the story, the detectives seem desperate to put each other down, rather than doing their job and it feels more like a dig at the police.

Final ThoughtsOverkill is a solid thriller.
