There were 5,401 who have applied for dual citizenship in 2021 from the Immigration Department. Most of them live in Australia and that number is 1,621.
Also 885 people from the United Kingdom, 795 from the US, 371 people from Canada have submitted requests for dual citizenship. Applications have been submitted by those residing in Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, New Zealand, France and Denmark and the department has taken steps to provide dual citizenship to those have applied.
