So last weekend I married my Mr Right. *excited face* After a year and half of wedding planning, I can’t quite believe it’s all done and dusted and I’m so excited to finally share it all with you. The weekend went by in a flurry of confetti and champagne and all that’s left are a few crumbs of wedding cake and a couple of sparkly rings (oh and a lifetime of happiness of course). I’ve barely blogged about the wedding planning process as I wanted to keep all the details a surprise from my guests but while we wait to get the professional photos back, I thought I’d give you all a little update with a few snaps of the most important part of the wedding day. THE CAKE (which I may or may not have eaten for breakfast every day since the wedding). Ahem.
My dress is so big it makes the cake look quite petite when in fact it is quite frankly colossal. After talking my Fiance out of buying a giant brownie for a wedding cake, we found our dream cake at Poppy Pickering in Ilkley and after changing the style a few times, we settled on this all white, four tiered design. We had considered a number of different places including Bettys when searching for the perfect design but most were too plain and I wanted a cake that made a statement. For those of you who haven’t heard of Poppy Pickering, she is like the Northern version of the much loved London based Peggy Porschen and she creates beautiful cakes.

There are endless flavours to choose from but after an epic tasting session, we settled on classic Victoria Sponge, Chocolate Mud and White Chocolate and Raspberry. Cake tastings are one of the more exciting and fun parts of the wedding planning process and naturally choosing the cake was the first job I ticked off my list. Our design ideas did change as we picked out the perfect venue and decided on a dress as the original design was a bit too girly while our final design was a little more on the elegant side. The lovely Dominique from Poppy Pickering made choosing a cake simple and it complemented our wedding perfectly so thank you for creating a cake of which dreams are made of.
