In Our Strangers, conversations are overheard and misheard, a special delivery letter is mistaken for a rare white butterfly, toddlers learning to speak identify a ping-pong ball as an egg and mumbled remarks betray a marriage. In the glow of Davis's keen noticing, strangers can become like family and family like strangers.

This is a new author for me. I chose Our Strangers when I saw it promoted on the main page of a book retailer's website (not Amazon). I enjoyed this collection of stories a lot and would like to read more of the author's work. The collection is split into five sections. I like that the stories are all different so I knew quite knew what to expect when I started to read a new more. The stories are different lengths as well, some no more than a few sentences. Many of the stories have a satirical tone which I liked a lot. I especially enjoyed Everyone Used To Cry, Incident on the Train, Encounter in Landscape, Second Drink and The Left Hand. I'd recommend this.
