Our Favorite Character Valentines

By Appraisingpages @appraisjngpages

il_570xN.340556917There might not be anything geekier out there than falling in love with fictional love. But we are guilty as charged and there are some couples we can think of that we love enough to devote Valentine’s Day to. Here are some of our 10 favorite couples from our favorite fiction books. *Disclaimer* There will be light spoilers for these books so if you haven’t read some of them and want to we suggest skipping those!

1. Adam & Mia from If I Stay and Where She Went by Gayle Forman

“But the you who you are tonight is the same you I was in love with yesterday, the same you I’ll be in love with tomorrow.”

We’ve never been quiet about our love for this book and this couple. Something that we love with this couple is that they get thrown into a storm almost immediately and watching them weather it together was both heartbreaking and heartwarming.

“Please Mia,” he implores. “Don’t make me write a song.”

They are both artists and their creativity comes through in their story. They’re passionate, emotional, and you can immediately connect with their friendship because it’s so honest.

“Love, it never dies. It never goes away, it never fades, so long as you hang on to it. Love can make you immortal”

2. Stormy and Odd from Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz

“Some lives, conducted with grace, are beautiful arcs bridging this world to eternity.”

We have a minor obsession with Odd Thomas and the movie that’s coming out soon. Man oh man do we love Stormy and Odd. They are a perfectly balance couple, their love compliments each other. We love the way Odd dotes on Stormy without ever being possessive or overwhelming. The story starts with them already being in a developed relationship, but we still got those butterflies from first dates. We love them both so much, but Stormy has a special place in our heart. She’s spunky and feisty and doesn’t let Odd get away with anything, not that he’d ever want to. They’re communication style is honest and beautiful.

“My favorite body part is my heart because it is the only thing I have to give to Stormy Llewllyn.”

3. Rose and Demetri from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

“I couldn’t stop staring at the cave, back where Dimitri was, back where half of my soul was.”

4. Augustus and Hazel from The Fault in our Stars by John Green

Just look at that picture and that quote from this book. Look at it. Read it. Do you not get chills? Their entire relationship throughout this book is like that, chill after chill at their beautiful friendship told through John Green’s masterful writing.

“As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.”

Read that one! See! Chills again! Picking just a few is hard and almost impossible, but here it goes.

“Some people don’t understand the promises they’re making when they make them,” I said.

“Right, of course. But you keep the promise anyway. That’s what love is. Love is keeping the promise anyway.”

And then one more because we seriously can’t stop:

“But I believe in true love, you know? I don’t believe that everybody gets to keep their eyes or not get sick or whatever, but everybody should have true love, and it should last at least as long as your life does.”

5. Leo and Alma from The History of Love by Nicole Krauss

This is a love that transcends continents, world wars, and generations. Theirs is a love that inspires new loves, it’s a novel about a novel about love. Confused? Don’t be, just read it and love them like we do.

Leo and Alma’s story is far from perfect and actually quite tragic, but tragic loves deserves just as much attention as the stories that work out.
