Ghanaian Center, Nathan Mensah has pointed to playing tough defense as the anchor of San Diego State Men’s Basketball team’s success.

He said this in an interview with MountainWest Sports Network ahead of The Aztecs game against University of Connecticut in the final game of the US Men’s College Basketball National Championship.

San Diego State beat Florida Atlantic University 72-71 in the Final Four (semifinal stage) on the back of beating Creighton University 57-56 in the Elite Eight (quarterfinal stage) to reach the final.

Reacting to his team’s close wins, Mensah stated, “Sometimes you don’t hope for games like that but our defense has always been the anchor of this team and it kind of wears teams down. At a latter point in time, teams’ legs have given out and at the end they kind of like fall short in their shots that gives us the victory at the end of the game.”
