The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Wednesday the details regarding the 97th Academy Awards. On April 10, the Academy shared the nominations and event timeline on its social media accounts. The ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, its fixed venue.

The Academy tweeted the details along with an announcement picture. It wrote,

Mark your calendars! The 97th Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

Notably, the next year’s ceremony has moved up by about a week. The Oscars were held on March 10 this year. As usual, ABC will air the Academy Awards. In 2025, the event will reportedly start at 7 p.m., an hour before it usually does. Viewers from the East Coast like the change in telecast timing. They are finding it reasonable, and considering the show’s duration, it would hopefully align with their bedtime.

Earlier, they found it difficult to stay up for the entire event and had to sleep without the Best Picture announcement.

The deadline for general entries and best picture submissions is November 14. Then, the votes for shortlisting the entries will be between December 9 and December 13.

Jimmy Kimmel hosted this year’s Academy Awards. Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy and directed by Christopher Nolan, won the most awards, including Best Picture, Director, Actor, and Supporting Actor.

Nevertheless, the competition for the 97th Oscars will also be no less than that of the previous years. Many potential hits are set to be released this year. Some of the most anticipated films that would have the potential to win the Oscar award are Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga’s “Joker: Folie à Deux” and George Miller’s “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.”

We also saw the immense box-office success of “Dune: Part Two,” which makes it one of the strongest contenders for victory.
