Oregon: Hood River “Float-In”

The “Float-In” begins as people prepare to launch

Hood River, Ore., is one of my favorite vacation spots. My sister helped organize yesterday’s “Float-In” in Hood River’s Nichols Basin to protest an, as of yet, unapproved plan to turn Nichols Basin, a public water access recreation area currently used for SUP, kayaking, fishing, swimming, walking dogs, canoeing, hanging out, and learning to windsurf into a private cable park. 175 people showed up, including me and Ruby, who went out on stand-up paddelboards. The weather was beautiful, and it was a lot of fun! (I even fell in and got a chance to cool myself off.)
