Brighton’s alt-poppers Orchards have shared new single ‘Sooner’ and announced details of a UK and EU tour next spring.
Drenched in waves of nostalgia, the band say the intelligent pop song is ‘the start of the wormhole into our world’ and how ‘it’s reminiscent of days spent drinking on the beach, jumping in the sea to cool off whilst the BBQ tries desperately to light in the Brighton wind. It opens with Lucy Evers asking ‘Are you satisfied? I feel obliged to tell you I have spent my hard-earned time chasing a dream you told me wasn’t worthwhile’ amidst danceable hooks that Dutch Uncles would be proud of before then pondering how ‘I could have known you better’.
The huge chorus hits as the band decide to look forward to a brighter future, albeit with a direct message to the subject on just what they’re missing out on: ‘you should have loved me sooner’. It’s all about looking ahead and making things better (or, as the band state in the PR ‘getting right back to that sunny beach’.
Orchards say ‘Sooner’ is’ the invitation to the party. It’s one you won’t want to miss out on so send your RSVP asap.
Dutch Uncles intelligent pop with a big chorus. Nostalgic with hints of regret but also how you can learn to make things better (or how you should spend time ‘getting right back to that sunny beach’. Repeats of ‘You should have loved me sooner’
