We love chutney in this house and I always have a jar of Branston's chutney in the refrigerator. This Orchard Fruit version is really nice.
Included was a recipe card to make these Orchard Fruit Chutney and Walnut Scones and so that is the product I chose to highlight this month by making a recipe.
And I chose to make the recipe on the card which was included.
The dough was quite a bit damper than what I am used to working with, but that was not anything that couldn't be handled with lots of flour on the pastry board.
They rose nicely and had a lovely flavor with little specks of tasty apple chutney throughout and some crunch from the walnuts. They went down a real treat with some more chutney and some cheese for a bit of lunch. These would be a great addition to the cheese board for your upcoming holiday festivities!

Place the flour into a large bowl. Drop in the butter and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine bread crumbs. Stir in the walnuts and season with pepper. Stir in the milk with a round bladed knife to form a soft dough. Knead in the chutney. Tip out onto a surface dusted with flour and pat out lightly. Cut into 12 rounds using a 3 inch round cutter, dipping it into flour each time. Dust the baking tray with more flour and place the scones onto it, leaving space inbetween each for expansion.
