Smartphone companies are now busy developing batteries with advanced chemistry as an alternative to lithium ion. More recently, silicon-carbon anode batteries have been practiced, dubbed Glacier batteries by brands like Oppo and OnePlus. An Oppo official has now confirmed that the Oppo Find X8 series will feature silicon-carbon anode chemistry batteries.
Notably, this battery technology offers higher energy density than traditional graphite batteries, which is an industry leading 763Wh/L. As a result, a large capacity battery can be placed in a small space. It does not make the smartphone too thick. Again the charge lasts a long time.
