The United States has been at war in Afghanistan for 17 years, and there is still no end in sight. It's the longest war the U.S. has been engaged in. Unfortunately, far too many Americans are not aware of it -- probably because the media no longer covers the war (except for a rare story every now and then).
A recent poll asked respondents if we are still in that war, and sadly, only 58% of them knew the war is still going on. About 21% said it wasn't, and another 21% said they didn't know if the war was going on or not. It seems we have soldiers dying in a war that is largely forgotten by the American public.
The chart reflects the results of a new Rasmussen Poll -- done on July 25th and 26th of a national sample of 1,000 likely voters, with a 3 point margin of error.
