Online Word Counter & Free Keyword Density Checker

Posted on the 06 December 2020 by Jyoti Arora @Jy0tiAr0ra

Online word counter tools give you the quickest and easiest way to find out the length of your write-ups. In this post, I'd introduce you to a word and character counter that is also an excellent keyword density checker. Actually, this online tool for writers has many other features too. However, I find these two features most useful. Best of all, you can use it for free and without creating an account. Of course, a registered user unlocks more features.

This online service is predictably called the WordCounter. Here's what it offers to users.

Online Word Counter & Free Keyword Density Checker

Online Word Counter and Keyword Density Checker

Free Online Word Count Tool:

The prime function of this free tool is to help you count the characters and words of your write-up quickly. To do that, you just need to open the website and copy-paste your text in the text field. It instantly displays the words and characters in your text.

Auto Save:

WordCounter automatically saves your text. So, if you edit your article in its text field, your text will remain safe even if you accidentally close the window. You can also manually save your writing whenever you wish. The Save button is present in the Toolbar above the text field.

Useful toolbar:

The Toolbar of this word count tool gives you several other useful options as well. However, if you prefer a clean writing space, you can hide this toolbar by clicking on the button Go Basic. You will find this button on the top right corner of the text field.

The options on the toolbar include Clear, Undo, and Redo. The tools for Save, Activity tracker, and Goal, are only available to registered users. The Activity feature can help you keep track of your writing progress. The Goal feature can motivate you to write until you reach your writing goal of the day. You can even embed this Goal on your website.

The toolbar options include an Options button. When you open this, you will get several settings that you can toggle on/off as per your preferences. These options include the Font setting, Date Format, Time Format, the toggles for the writing analysis details (Average sentence length, reading time, etc.), Keyword Density Checker settings, and the buttons you want to see on the Toolbar.

Online Character Counter with Text Analysis:

This online word count tool doesn't just tell you how many words or letters you have used. It also gives you details about the number of sentences and paragraphs in your text, reading level, reading time, speaking time, etc. You can choose which details you want to see or hide. These details can help you easily figure out the readability of your text and how much time it will take to read it aloud.

All these details are available on the Sidebar.

Free Keyword Density Checker:

You can quickly use WordCounter to check your article's character count online. In addition, it also helps you monitor your use of keywords.

In the past few days, I've tried several such online services. Out of all of them, I like WordCounter the best. This online Keyword Density Checker shows how many times the keywords appeared in your text and their percentage of use in the entire text. This can inform you whether you have underused or overused any word string.

You can see this report for 1, 2, and 3-word keywords. You can toggle between these reports easily. Going to the setting options available through the More button, you can choose the number of items you want to see in this report. The default is 10.

This report is available on the Sidebar next to the text input field. I really like how easy it is to check your article's keyword density online using WordCounter.

Link this online word counter with Grammarly:

Registered users of this free word counter can also claim a 20% discount while purchasing paid subscriptions of Grammarly. You can connect your Grammarly account to your WC account and turn this online character counter into an online grammar checker as well.

Other fabulous features of WordCounter:

Besides being a fabulous word count tool and keyword density checker, it also has several other useful features. The Header and Footer of wordcounter.net have More Tools link. The features available through these links include:

  • Words Per Page: To help you figure out how many pages you need if you have to write a certain number of words per page.
  • Web Page Word Counter: If you want to check the word count of a web page, this tool can help you.
  • Alphabetize List: If you have a random list, you can use this option to organize your list in alphabetical order quickly. You can also randomize an alphabetical list, reverse the list, and remove duplicates. Several other listing options are available as well.
  • Character Count: This removes all the bells and whistles and gives you a simple words and character counter. It also shows the letter density of your text. That is, it tells you how many times you have used different letters.
  • Editor Counter: This shows you how many words and characters you added or removed while editing your text.
  • Random Word Generator: This feature generates random words. You can choose whether the random words should be nouns, verbs, adjectives, or mixed. Creative writers can challenge themselves to write something using these random words. These can also help teachers and students by delivering nouns, verbs, adjectives for practice exercises.
  • Capitalize Sentences: This option quickly capitalizes the first word of every sentence you input in the text field. It is useful for writers who have a bad habit of forgetting to do it.
  • Citation Generator: It can help you write citations as per proper APA, MLA, or Chicago style.

Is it the best free online word counter?

WordCounter is definitely very easy to use and has several features useful for writers. Novelists, bloggers, freelance writers, editors, and all such professionals can benefit from it. You can use it as an online character counter and free keyword density checker. Its other tools can also save you a lot of time while ordering lists, creating citations, capitalizing sentences, editing, etc.

I can't say if it is the best or not, but WordCounter is the best online word count tool I've come across. Moreover, it's free! Check it out by visiting https://wordcounter.net/
