Internet-based online video advertising has been around for a little over a decade. The online video trend has been slowly rising and gaining traction thanks to platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Rumble.

While online video advertising has been gaining in popularity and has become one of the more popular options for business content creation, videos took off thanks to the pandemic.

In today’s world, online video advertising is a crucial tool that marketers must utilize to reach their target audience. In the past few years, a large number of advertisers have turned to this platform due to its effectiveness and engagement with consumers.

It has grown exponentially over recent years and will continue to do so as technology advances.

This blog post will go into detail about how online video advertising has risen during recent years and why it is such an effective marketing strategy for businesses looking to increase brand awareness.

The rise in popularity of social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc., has given way for more people than ever before to be able to share videos across the internet on these platforms which inevitably increases viewership numbers by thousands each day.

More Time to Consume Video

For many marketers, the global pandemic was a way to build up assertion through all the twists and turns that the last year and a half has thrown as businesses. In the light of all the chaos, many consumers have been staying home longer than ever before.

This meant that they had more time to consume content such as videos. As well as scroll through their feeds, go on more websites, and do more online shopping.

Video Advertising Apps

Apps such as TikTok have been around since 2018 but blew up in popularity in 2020 due to the pandemic. Due to this vast amount of popularity in this social media platform, platforms such as Instagram announced that they would put more focus on video-based content.

On Instagram, they are doing more videos rather than being just an image-sharing app.

The pandemic has overwhelmingly increased the number of online videos that people watch. While surveys (see infographic below) states that 78% of people watch videos online at least once a week, this number is only increasing.

Video ads are a very popular form of advertising that has risen in popularity over the past few years. This is primarily because they allow companies to reach out and target very specific audiences while also being able to track these individuals’ responses.

As technology continues to advance, so does online video advertising, allowing for even better results.

YouTube Video Advertising

During the rise of the pandemic, 35% of YouTube’s top-performing ads in April 2020 were related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is compared to just 5% in March, just 1 month before.

The pandemic gave YouTube video advertising and video content creation and big push.

This big push has now made consumers expect video content. Therefore, a bigger preference is to be entertained through video content rather than traditional content such as images or texts.

Twitter Video Advertising

Even Twitter is getting in on the online video advertising action. As a matter of fact, according to Twitter:

“On Twitter specifically, we’ve seen a 62% year-over-year increase in daily video views and a 72% year-over-year increase in watch time.

In fact, advertising creativity is the #1 factor in driving sales and 47% of sales can be attributed to the creative. Therefore, it’s critical to optimize your content for mobile audiences.”

Twitter recommend their ad videos remain under 15 seconds and claim that the first 3 seconds of the video can make all the difference to grab attention on their platform.

However, you will see many of Twitter’s video advertising at 30 seconds, like the one below here:

The Alternative Rumble Video Platform is Growing

Rumble is also growing in popularity. Rumble, one of America’s fastest-growing video platforms estimates it will invest upwards of $50 million in the state of Florida over the next several years.

This alternative video platform to YouTube has been steadily growing over the past 2 years with 40 million users.

If you are looking to work for them, they are currently hiring at their Sarasota location in Florida.

Increase Your Brand Awareness with Online Video Advertising

The internet has made it easier than ever for your business to stand out in a world where we’re all competing against each other.

Online video ads can be one way that you do this by helping people remember what they see and hear better, as studies show that video clips retain ten times more information compared with print or audio formats – so make sure those online videos have an attractive look!

It turns out our brain process visuals better than written language does because visual cues capture attention more easily (and quickly).

So if your goal for advertising campaigns want their message remembered by consumers – make sure these messages are visually captivating in order for them to be seen and remembered.

This could explain why YouTube video advertising does so well today!

In Conclusion

Online videos took off thanks to the pandemic because they were able to provide information easily and quickly without much effort on behalf of the viewer.

If you want your business content creation efforts to succeed with people who are looking at their phones all day long, then I recommend taking advantage of these social media apps. Creating regular or occasional short clips that will keep viewers entertained while educating them about what you offer.
