Online Gambling in The United States

Online gambling is growing bigger and bigger in the United States. More and more Americans use their mobile devices, laptops or computers to play on different online casinos.

In the United States, there are many different legal gambling sites to choose from. Many states are planning to launch or have already launched online casinos and sportbooks. There is online gambling in Colorado, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and many more states. In this article, we are going to give you some simple fact about online gambling in the states.

History of online gambling 

The first-ever online casino opened in 1994. These first online casinos were often based in Antigua and The Isle of Man. Even if the casino wasn’t based in the US they accepted American customers.

In 1996 the commission named Kahnawake Gaming Commission started issuing gaming licenses to casino sites on American soil. The number of online casinos grew and in 1998 online gambling revenues was worth 800 million US dollars.

In 1999 the US Senate attempted to ban all online gambling, but failed. Later, in 2002, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled to ban sports betting and online gambling. In 2004 Google and Yahoo! no longer allowed advertising for online gambling.

In 2012 Delaware became the first state to legalize online gambling. Later on, Nevada, New Jersey followed.

Accepts: Online sports betting. Does not accept online casinos or online poker. 

  • New Hampshire

Accepts: Online sports betting. Does not accepts online casinos or online poker.

  • Nevada

Accepts: Online sports betting and online poker. Does not accept online casinos. 

  • Delaware

Accepts: Online poker, online casinos and online sports betting.

  • Oregon

Accepts: Online sports betting. Does not accept online casinos or online poker.
