Online Dating Opening Messages…from Women

Posted on the 01 July 2013 by Neilmonnery @neilmonnery

Well months ago I did some blogging about online dating. It was fun. Well as part of this I set up a fake male and a fake female account. I did not contact or reply to anyone on either account but used them as the basis for my research/blog. Well anyway I logged into the fake male account today and there were a tonne of messages there. So I read them all and decided that I should share them with you all.

As an overview my profile is short and not so sweet which shows the person as a bit cheeky/a bit of a jerk. However from my recollection of online dating I read so many profiles where women say that they wanted a message to show that you’ve read the profile and messages saying just ‘hi’ and/or ‘howz u’ are boring and they’ll never reply as it shows you don’t really care enough to think of something interesting and original. So do women send interesting opening messages…?

Well lets see.

1) So can u actually carry a tune? And are u any good at tickling??

;)

2) Shall we cut to the chase and get down to oral xx

In short. They don’t. They don’t think they need to.

The longest message was 42 words I think it was. Now I’m sure many men would have replied to many of these types of opening messages but apparently women say they never will. So it hints that women want men to put in an effort (although in my time I sent some wonderfully original messages but one look at my photo and alas I was doomed) but women don’t feel like they need to.

As we all know I have written a fair bit about online dating and there have actually been some TV shows about it in recent weeks. I still find the whole thing fascinating. Lots of people are far more up front than they would be in real life and they most certainly are more judgmental. I know several other people who have tried it and apparently men with a foot fetish are rather up front about it! I like to keep my fetishes under lock & key for a little while at least…

So yes. Apparently my fake profile showing a cheeky chappie attracts a lot of dull messages and several rather flirty ones. So if you are a woman wanting to think about how to send an opening message – if you want the type of guy who’ll probably sleep with you rather quickly then just send a flirty one – I suspect for a lot of men that’ll work rather well.

However if you are a guy then your opening message is important but remember women get way way way more messages than guys so whilst you want to stand out from the crowd – remember you are fighting way more men for women’s affectations than vice versa so they can afford to be way more choosy. So men need a great message and a great look. If you don’t have both then you are doomed to a long and fruitless existence in the online dating world. As for women – just show any interest and most men would come running. Way to play hard to get men…
