Onionlike: Life imitates satirical newspaper

Life has a weird, sometimes sad way of imitating comedy.

American satirical newspaper The Onion typically writes headlines that are pretty unlikely to be true – they’re funny, irreverent, sometimes a bit mean, but never something that seems like a real thing that has actually happened. Headlines like “Adorable Kitten Thinks of Nothing But Murder All Day” and “War on String May Be Unwinnable, Says Cat General”.

But over at Tumblr blog “Onion-like Headlines in Real Life”, sometimes the universe’s sense of humor is just horribly, amusingly reminiscent of The Onion’s. Recent samples: “Man Rescued From One Elevator Promptly Gets Stuck in Another One”; “Shakira Attacked By Sea Lion”; and “Jersey Mayor Won’t Let Snooki Affect ‘Quality of Life’ in Her Town”. These are actual things that really ahppened.

Enjoy. And maybe cry a little.
