  • The OnePlus Watch is reportedly being delayed without a new startup window.
  • According to the sources of a tipster, the watch will not hit the market in October as originally speculated.

The long-awaited OnePlus watch was "postponed" according to tipster Max J, citing "multiple sources".

The news comes after the first rumors that OnePlus thawed its frozen wearable project this year. The company then confirmed the watch's existence in an official teaser just before the OnePlus 8T launched. There was no specific launch date, but judging by the timing, it was assumed that the wearable would launch alongside the flagship at the end of the year. This did not happen.

While it remains unclear when the smartwatch will make its debut, it doesn't appear that OnePlus has put its plans on hold permanently.

The OnePlus watch was originally designed in 2016, but the project has been discontinued due to the adverse market conditions at the time. Despite the delay, it seems like an excellent time for OnePlus to join its BBK peers in the wearable market. While it can be difficult for a premium OnePlus watch to compete with lower-cost fitness trackers, clearly there is consumer hunger for wearables for health monitoring during the pandemic.

As for the specs, we know little about the watch itself other than its likely design. OnePlus' teasers suggest that the wearable is sporting a circular face that resembles the Vivo watch. Unlike its siblings, we hope it includes a fast chipset and Wear OS as well.
