- Shutting down the OnePlus camera app revealed a multitude of functions in the works.
- These features include a moon mode, a starburst mode, and a focus tip.
- It is likely that these features will be available for the OnePlus 9 series.
OnePlus is eager to improve its photography game this year, although this has been a constant refrain for a while. Even so, the OnePlus 8 Pro has shown that the company can deliver a great camera experience.
Now, XDA developer shut down the OnePlus Camera App (version 6.4.23) and discovered a multitude of functions that the BBK brand is working on. It is likely that these features will be available for the OnePlus 9 series, although there is no guarantee that it will be.
The first feature discovered by the outlet was a tilt-shift mode that allows users to take tilt-shift photos. This mode essentially results in scenes that look like miniature models. However, OnePlus would not be the first to offer this option as Xiaomi has already implemented this feature. However, with the kind permission of XDA user Lossyx, we received screenshots from OnePlus.
The second important feature discovered while tearing it down is a moon mode. However, unlike Huawei's moon mode, the OnePlus option seems to focus on offering different filters for the moon. In particular, the app contains references to black and white, matte, and vivid filters for the moon.
Another trait discovered by XDA developer is a so-called starburst mode. The starburst effect refers to the visual effect that occurs when pointing at a strong light source such as the sun. And the app demolition notes that a light source is actually recommended when taking a picture in this mode.

Hyperlapse is another mode that was discovered while tearing down, and this is pretty self-explanatory. We have already seen competing manufacturers and third-party apps offer this mode that allows you to film a stabilized video time-lapse while in motion. So this could be an overdue addition to the OnePlus video arsenal if it lands in the OnePlus 9 series.
The last function discovered in the OnePlus camera app is the focus peaking functionality. Common on cameras and phones like LG and Samsung, this feature essentially highlights areas in focus in a scene for the sharpest results.
We are pleased that OnePlus is working on all of these features. In particular, options like focus peaking are ideal in a number of situations. Hopefully the OnePlus 9 series is on the rise in the image quality department too.
