It appears that OnePlus accidentally revealed the design of its upcoming OnePlus 8T in the code of an Android 11 beta update rolled out for OnePlus 8 Pro. While users are excited that the company is unveiling the incremental update to its 8 Series, the design reveal could increase the excitement.
As the developers of Oxygen Updater noticed, the latest Android 11 DP contains a reference to OnePlus 8T, codenamed Kebab. A file named "oneplus_8t.webp" has been spotted in the wild, and it includes an image of OnePlus 8T.
There is no visible design change in OnePlus 8T based on the image. It still has a hole punch camera and a blue themed color scheme. Another thing clearly visible in the alleged image of OnePlus 8T is the flat screen, which marks a change from the slightly curved display of OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro.
There's no drastic change, but given the history of the OnePlus smartphones, the T-series usually comes with performance upgrades and doesn't focus much on design changes.
The back of the phone is not visible in the picture; so there is not much to discuss on the rear design yet. Chances are this image could only be a placeholder and not the OnePlus 8T as we think. Therefore, we recommend our users to take this leak with a pinch of salt.
Previously, some leaks suggested that OnePlus 8T would arrive with a 64MP main camera compared to the 48MP sensor in OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. In addition, OnePlus is also working to bring support for 8K video recording to its future devices.
OnePlus is slated to release OnePlus 8T in November, as we've seen with previous versions of the company's T series.
