Saint Serpent - Trailer Park Witch b/w Saint Serpent
There's a rumble at the junkyard, and Saint Serpent got the soundtrack. Downright filthy, southern-fried action sludge rock dripping with axle grease and pond scum. "Trailer Park Witch" is just what it sounds like it should be, a ramped up assault of boogie riffing, meth-amphetamine, and vocals belching from a throat recently slathered with chromic acid. The killer harmonica textures elevate the whole thing to a new class a la Pig Iron landing into the sludge of a voodoo swamp. Flipside "Saint Serpent" keeps the ooze flowing with sticky riffs, a percolating beat, and the dying moans of a headless corpse. Again, that damn harmonica lifts the whole vibe to the sublime. Two tracks of totally killer barroom swamp sludge and spectacular art by Jan Meininghaus. A total blast and not to be missed.
Temptation's Wings - The Path EP Mirkwood b/w Dimensions
Double dose of revved up power doom a la Three Inches of Blood after a barfight with Trouble. Two tracks of seriously pounding drums wailing behind intricate riffing, prog textures, and a mythology all their own draped in a tapestry of doom. "Dimensions" kicks up the metal quotient with some downright fierce riffing like a pissed of Brimstone Coven. Don't let the 7" format fool you here. These are expansive prog doom excursions, that take their time to explore rotting forest floors and darkened mystical caves. Kyrre Bjurling provides some killer artwork to top it off. Definitely worth checking out.
