On the radio: Nick Mulvey- Cucurucu

Nick Mulvey

Recently the radio station I usually listen to in the car (which is 100% talking, no music) has had a crisis of confidence and doesn’t feel it’s good enough for its frequency to be picked up by my car aerial. This has meant I’ve had to listen to another station and I’ve been immersed in a whole load of music I wouldn’t usually choose to listen to, which has been marvelous.

I’ll be the first to suggest radio is a thing of the past, at least as a career choice. You can pick up thousands of amateur stations on your digital radio playing killer music 24/7 without adverts or yapping and yet, it endures and for that I respect the medium.

I was pretty happy like I say to be hearing random tunes with no control over what was being played but even more excited to hear a song I’d never heard before that I knew I needed in my life. Searching out lyrics on google and recently played tracks on the stations website brought back a certain nostalgia and I’m hoping this won’t be the last time.
