Story: On the Line starts in 1964 Alderney a remote island off the coast of England. Agnes (Lucie) operates the only phone system on the line, connecting the islanders with their desired locations. She spends most of the day dealing with trivial calls, but today we receives an unusual call. Agnes gets called by a woman named Martha, claiming to be in danger.

She tries to learn information to help her and contacts her friend in the police. However, with limited information, she must wait for more calls. As the calls become more intense, she tries to unlock more of the truth without being able to leave her station.

Verdict on, On the Line

On the Line is a thriller following a phone operating in 1964 who receives a call from a woman in danger. She must try to figure out the location of the woman while not being able to leave her station. However, her personal life starts to get in the way of uncovering the truth.

This is a thriller that uses the singular location incredibly well. It shows the call operator dealing with the stressful situation in a way that requires calm. We are as helpless as she is, as she tries to find the best solution, which leads down a series of potential avenues. Each one offers a different friend and the island community it tested. While we have seen a lot of these styles of movies over the years, this is a welcome addition to the collection.

Where to Watch
