Welcome to On the Beat!  A weekly feature that tips on keeping you and your family safe in this fast changing world.
Today's Topic: A 2-Part segment on Safety for WomenPart 2
Tips to saving your life, if you have gotten into a situation:
REACT IMMEDIATELYIf someone jumps in your car, chances are they are not going to take the time to put on their seat belt, but you will have yours on. CRASH YOUR CAR – Then be prepared to get out immediately and run.

RESIST - Don't go along with him: Run, if you are able: DON'T EVER GIVE UP! You DO NOT want to get to a crime scene. Believe you are stronger then you are – your adrenaline with help do the rest!
If your car breaks down – CALL 911 for help!  Yes – we police officers do not mind coming to help a woman stranded on the roadway. We would prefer to have you interrupt our coffee break with this, then give us a crime scene and nightmares for days.
What you CAN DO! –
On the Beat with Stacy EatonThe EYES are the most vulnerable part of the body. Poke him there HARD. It may be your only window of opportunity. If you are face to face with someone – put my thumbs into their eyes and dig in.  Yes, I know this is gross – like really nasty – but guess what – you’ll be alive!
The neck is also a vulnerable spot, but you MUST know where to grip, AND HAVE THE STRENGTH to cut off his breath. Punch him in the throat to cut off his air supply.
The last place is the KNEES. Everyone's knees are very vulnerable – The best place way to do this is to kick the knee from the top of the knee cap, down and back. You have to do it hard and fast, but it can give you time to run.
The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!
Do not yell “HELP” – YELL “FIRE” – people are afraid to get involved when you yell help – but there is not a soul alive that won’t turn their head and look at you when you yell fire.  Rubber neckers will come from all over to see what is burning.
If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you but everybody else will. This saves lives.
The most important thing for everyone woman to do – is BE AWARE!  DO NOT ACT LIKE A VICTIM or you will become one.  Instead of talking on your cell phone while you are walking to your car, keep your finger on the 911 button and be prepared to hit it should you need to. Even if you can’t talk – 911 will hear you – scream – we can trace the signal and find you.
