Story: Old Man starts as we meet an old man (Lang) living alone in a remote cabin. He lives with Rascal and spends time searching for Rascal, waiting for his wife to return. One day a stranger arrives on his doorstep, a lost hiker in need of guidance.

The two start to tell a story as to why they are there, with the Old Man telling a disturbing story about what he did to the last visitor. While the hiker has his own disturbing story to tell, leaving us wondering what has happened to the lost souls.

Verdict on Old Man

Old Man is a thriller following an unusual encounter between two men. One who lives in the cabin, the second a hiker that turns up lost in the woods. As the stories unfold, we are drawn into a much dark tale about the men involved.

This is a tense thriller as the stories being told as filled with unease. They could easily almost be seen as shorts within the movie too. However, this does seem to hold a lot back, as, by the time we reach the final outcome, things are shocking, but seem more out of place. Not everything feels like it adds up and we are left with an outcome that feels more disappointing. Stephen Lang is good in his role and does make us what to hear his stories.

Final Thoughts – Old Man is filled with tension and unease but ultimately leaves us a little bit flat.
