The Police Headquarters has taken steps to appoint new Officers in Charge for 271 Police Stations with effect from January 1 next year.
Police information sources stated that Sri Lanka Police currently has 609 Police Stations, out of which 271 OICs have been changed.
Meanwhile, 32 OIC’s have been relived of their duties. Also, 94 Police officers have been promoted as OICs for the first time. In addition, OICs have not been appointed to nine Police stations and acting OIC’s are to be appointed until a permanent OIC is appointed for such stations.
New OICs have also been appointed to Police stations where there were no permanent OIC’s previously.
