Offensive-zone Play Broken Down into Points, Passes and Shots Per-minute Played

By Kicks @Chrisboucher73
 Easy to understand bubblegraphs
This post will focus on how successful each Montreal Canadiens player was at creating offense in the offensive-zone. The graphs included here are visual representations of three separate variables; shots on net, completed offensive-zone passes, and points per-minute played.
These graphs give us a clear vision of each player's contribution in the offensive-zone during the 2013 NHL regular season.
  • The further each player's bubble is to the right, the more offensive-zone passes they successfully complete per-minute of even-strength ice-time
  • The higher their bubble is within the graph, the more shots they get on net per-minute of ice-time
  • The larger the bubble is, the more points they produce per-minute of ice-time.

DEFENSEMEN
PK Subban had more shots on net per-minute played than any other Montreal d-men. Alexei Emelin however, contributed the most points per-minute played. Emelin also contributed the second-most shots on net PMP.
Andrei Markov completed the most offensive-zone passes PMP, but produced the fewest even-strength points per-minute played. Josh Gorges produced the fewest shots through, as well as the fewest completed passes PMP, while contributing the fewest PPMP of any Habs d-man not named Markov.

CENTRES
Lars Eller contributed nearly 3 times as many shots on net per-minute played than any other Montreal center. Eller also completed the second-most passes PMP, and the most points per-minute played. Desharnais had the best true-shooting-percentage of any Montreal player last season, and produced the second-most PPMP, but was only able to get more shots on net PMP than Ryan White.

WINGERS
Rookie forward Brendan Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk produced more points per-minute played than any other Montreal players. Gallagher also had the most shots on net PMP, while Galchenyuk had the third-most.
The most passes PMP were made by Max Pacioretty, who produced the third-most points per-minute played. The second most passes per-minute played were completed by Brandon Prust. However Prust also contributed the fewest shots-on-net PMP.
Travis Moen completed the fewest passes per-minute played, and the fewest shots-on-net PMP of any player not named Prust.
