to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of cats needing to be rescued each year and also to encourage cat lovers to celebrate the cat(s) in their life for the unconditional love and companionship they bestow upon us.Founded by Pet and Family Lifestyle Expert, Colleen Paige, supported by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, a nonprofit organization which also works to encourage pet adoption. International Internet Day (1969)
- The first connection on what would become the Internet was made on this day in 1969 when bits of data flowed between computers at UCLA and the Stanford Research Institute. This was the beginning of ARPANET, the precursor to the Internet developed by the Department of Defense. By the end of 1969, four sites were connected: UCLA, the Stanford Research Institute, the University of California at Santa Barbara and the University of Utah.
