A Kid Like Jake movie is all about embracing your differences.
and Octavia Spencer, who plays a preschool adviser in the film recently shared her love for the message in the film.
A Kid Like Jake
“I loved the message of the film — it depends on where you are at in your life — but it is about embracing differences,” Spencer told Page Six at the premiere.
“There is a huge community that will benefit from projects like this — and I need to lend my name and learn from it.”
The film is about a couple, Alex Wheeler(Claire Danes) and her husband, Greg (Jim Parsons), who are trying to find the right primary school for their 4-year-old son, Jake. Described as gender-expansive by his adviser, Jake’s increasingly erratic behavior starts to cause a rift between the couple. Alex worries that the adults in her son’s life are labeling him prematurely, while Greg wonders if Jake’s fondness for dressing up might be more than just a phase.
