Oceans Over Alderaan – ‘Falters’

We were big fans of Blackpool-based math rockers Oceans Over Alderaan’s debut single ‘Sevenfour’ and new song ‘Falters’ is just as powerful. It’s available via the band’s own label The Recording Industry is Dead Records now.

Recorded with Alpha Male Tea Party’s Tom Peters, the song tackles issues of male mental health, depression and suicidal impulses in a sound that combines the intensity of The Twilight Sad or latter-day Low with the potent hooks of The Joy Formidable.

It opens with the sound of waves crashing in before a swaying guitar-led melody takes over and Alice Deacon sings about how ‘the world will move on’ and ‘these visions will soon go away but the memory will stay’ as the instrumentation becomes ever more mathy.
