Plot: A successful asset manager, who has just received a huge promotion, is blissfully happy in his career and in his marriage. But when a temp worker starts stalking him, all the things he’s worked so hard for are placed in jeopardy.

Verdict: Fatal Attraction 2
Story: Obsessed starts by showing happily married couple Derek (Elba) and Sharon (Knowles) moving into a brand new house. Derek is a well-respected asset manager who has just closed a big deal for the company. After meeting the new temp Lisa (Larter) we get a slightly uncomfortable life scene between the two. When returning back to work after a weekend Derek finds the temp is covering for his own assistant, this causes tension in his marriage after Sharon wants to see Lisa gone.
When Ben (O’Connell) believes Lisa has got eyes for Derek, things start getting uncomfortable when Lisa re-appears as another assistant in the office. At the Christmas party where spouses are not invited things start getting out of control when Lisa tries to force herself onto Derek. After Lisa quits, Derek thinks he is in the clear, things come back to a new level when Lisa returns into Derek’s life putting everything he has at risk.
Obsessed follows the very same ideas behind the film ‘Fatal Attraction’, though it does cut back on anything graphic. What holds the film back would be the decision making the characters make, for example if you had married a guy you would trust him more but then you would expect him to laugh and joke about the situation the stalker puts him in from the first little incidents before things got out of hand. The fact that he never did anything works well because he really does become the victim of the situation but the ‘she’s not coming back moments’ do drag along because we know she will be back, if not what would be the point in the film? This does have tension built up but not to the level it could do. (6/10)
Actor Review
Idris Elba: Derek a successful asset manager who is also happily married but when a new temp starts getting too interested in his life. Derek has to deal with being accused of an affair and prove that he didn’t to his wife while Lisa continues to pop back up in his life. Idris does a good job showing he can be a lead in a film. (7/10)
Beyoncé Knowles: Sharon loving wife of Derek’s and mother to his child who spends her time around the house before getting suspicious of the new temp. Sharon does question he husband’s innocents to the affair before finally seeing the light that Lisa is crazy. Beyoncé struggles to make an impact her, she is fine with the discussion scenes but doesn’t handle the reactions well. (5/10)
Ali Larter: Lisa the new temp who gains an instant attraction to Derek but when he rejects her she starts to become more demanding falling into the stalker. Ali does a good job becoming the obsessed lady and pulls out all the crazy needed. (7/10)
Support Cast: Obsessed has a supporting cast that includes fellows employees with Derek who all act very generic, a babysitter who isn’t the smartest and a detective who just seems to make notes.
Director Review: Steve Shill – Steve does a solid job directing he does build the tension well but the quiet moments get rather boring. (6/10)
Thriller: Obsessed does use the tension well when it is needed but the parts between don’t seem to interesting. (6/10)
Settings: Obsessed uses very generic settings like office, home and hotels which shows us the main location Derek will be. (7/10)
Suggestion: Obsessed is one to try the thriller fans out there may enjoy more than the rest but for the casual fans it won’t appeal that much. (Try It)
Best Part: Cat Fight
Worst Part: The dull non stalker moments.
