We all have our ways of coping with the heat but apparently, for this nurse, it was going half-naked to work. Yes, you read that right. An unidentified Russian nurse who was handling coronavirus infected patients went to work wearing nothing but a bikini under her transparent PPE gown. But the administration didn’t agree with her coping mechanism and suspended her indefinitely.
The Russian nurse was serving in an all-male ward when she showed up to work wearing nothing but a bikini under her transparent PPE gown. According to her, she did it only to beat the heat, and as you can see in the pictures, the patients seemed pretty happy with her decision.
Unfortunately for the nurse, her actions didn’t sit well with her superiors. She may even lose her job altogether.
Still, others thought her punishment was too strict and and offered their support across social media. Her colleagues and medics also came to her defense, saying that she was not provided with proper gear, and that the transparent PPE gown was too thin to protect her from coronavirus.
In a news report, a staff member issued a statement saying that the reason the nurse was wearing the only bikini underneath her gown was because she was not provided with scrubs to wear underneath it. Prior to this instance, many medical staff members at the Tula hospital had complained about not being provided the necessary gear, but no one else dared to show up to work nearly naked to make their point.
The hospital is yet to make a comment on this, however, authorities deemed the action inappropriate on the nurse’s part, and agreed with the hospital’s handling of the situation. On the other hand, supporters of the nurse think that she was giving her patients “a reason to live.”
