“Thanks to our nuclear arsenal of effective and safe deterrence, the word 'war' will no longer be used in this country”, he declared during a meeting with veterans, according to the North Korean official agency KCNA.

Thus, “our national security and our future will be secured for eternity,” he added, dampening hopes of Pyongyang's possible renunciation of its nuclear and ballistic programs.

The dialog between Pyongyang and Washington stumbles over the inability of the two parties to agree on the concessions that North Korea should make in exchange for the lifting of the sanctions ordered to force it to give up its programs nuclear and ballistic.

The Korean War (1950 – 1953) was punctuated by an armistice, no by a peace agreement, which means that the two neighbors are still, technically, in a state of war.
