The Welipenna Police had received a complaint that two persons who had come in a three-wheeler to a temple at Adawala had run away   after injecting some substance into the mouth of a 16-year-old monk.

However, it was revealed later that the complaint lodged by a 16-year-old novice monk was false, and he had made up this lie he would be punished by the Chief Incumbent of the temple.

Investigations have revealed that there are several places where illegal liquor is sold around the temple and that this monk has allegedly brought illegal liquor from one of those places and consumed it.

He had also invited a person in the temple to consume alcohol with him.

He had told the Chief Incumbent of the Temple that two people broke into his room while he was asleep and inserted something with a cylinder into his mouth.

Then the novice Monk had himself called the 1990 ambulance and was admitted to hospital.
