Push Button Phone Day/Touch-Tone Telephone (1963)
- AT+T introduced the Touch-Tone Telephone as an alternative to rotary-dial phones in 1963. Early Touch-Tone sets had only 10 buttons. AT+T added the * and # keys in 1968 for use in advanced services. Touch-tone service was available as an option at an extra charge. This option was available only in two Pennsylvania cities.

- Calvin and Hobbes is a syndicated daily comic strip written and illustrated by American cartoonist Bill Watterson and syndicated from November 18, 1985, to December 31, 1995. It follows the humorous antics of Calvin, a precocious and adventurous six-year-old boy, and Hobbes, his sardonic stuffed tiger.
Mickey Mouse's Birthday (1928)
- The comical activities of squeaky-voiced Mickey Mouse first appeared in 1928, on the screen of the Colony Theatre at New York City. The film, Walt Disney's Steamboat Willie, was the first animated cartoon talking picture.
Superman Death Anniversary (1992)
- The Death of Superman is a 1992 comic book storyline that occurred in DC Comics's Superman titles. In the story, Superman engages in battle with a seemingly unstoppable killing machine named Doomsday in the streets of Metropolis. At the fight's conclusion, both combatants die from their wounds in Superman (vol. 2) #75 in 1992.
Teddy Bear Birthday (1902)
- In November 1902, Theodore Teddy Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States, was hunting in Mississippi. The President failed to make a kill, so his hosts caught and tethered a bear, presenting it to the President as a sitting target. Naturally the President refused, uttering the immortal words, Spare the bear! I will not shoot a tethered animal. Clifford Berryman drew a cartoon of the scene, which was published in the Washington Post.
Howard Stern Show Radio Premiere (1985)
- Radio's pioneering shock jock, Howard Stern, began broadcasting with sidekick Robin Quivers on New York radio station WXRK-FM in 1985. With outrageous humor and a gleeful disregard for taste, Stern quickly became popular nationally, but many remain outraged at his show elements. The FCC frequently fined his broadcasting company. Radio listeners today number around 25 million.
Jonestown Massacre (1978)
- On November 18, 1978, the Indiana-born, 47-year-old Reverend Jim Jones, leader of the People's Temple, was reported to have directed the suicides of more than 900 persons at Jonestown, Guyana. Jones and his mistress killed themselves after watching the administration of Kool-Aid laced with the deadly poison cyanide to members of the cult. At least 912 persons died in the biggest murder-suicide in history.
