When will the release of the Nothing Phone (2) occur?
The nothing phone 2 has not yet received an official release date, but Carl Pei, the company’s CEO, did clarify in an interview with Inverse that it will occur later in 2023 and that, unlike the Nothing Phone, this time the gadget would receive an official debut in the US (1).
We can refer to the new model’s predecessor, which debuted in July 2022, as a general indicator of when it will come. Nevertheless, as Nothing is a new company, it’s unclear at this point whether it plans to utilize a 12-month upgrade cycle or wait a little longer before announcing the replacement.

What is the price of the Nothing Phone (2)?
Once more, it’s too soon to say for sure. When the enormously competitive cost for the Nothing Phone (1) was made public, many people—including us—were taken aback. The various configurations were arranged as follows:
- 8GB + 128GB: £399/€469/₹33,999/$299 (beta-only in US)
- 8GB + 256GB: £449/€499/₹36,999 (approx. $540)
- 12GB + 256GB: £499/€549/₹39,999 (approx. $600)
Carl Pei did mention that the new product would be “more premium than the Nothing Phone (1)” in the interview with Inverse, which would signal a shift from the mid-range to the higher end. There would undoubtedly be a price increase as a result, but the exact amount is unknown.
What characteristics will the Nothing Phone (2) have?
There haven’t been many specifics revealed about the technical features that the Nothing Phone is likely to have (2). We believe that the processor, cameras, and battery life will be improved if it is to be a “more premium” handset.
Processor:
The Snapdragon 8 series chipset will power the Nothing Phone (2), Pei said during Mobile World Congress in February.
Unfortunately, it is unclear just which chipset. That would indicate the most recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but employing the older 8 Gen 1 or 8+ Gen 1 might enable the company to give an improved performance while keeping the price below the behemoths from Samsung and Apple.
A reliable mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ processor was installed in the Nothing Phone (1).
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will power the Phone (2), according to a LinkedIn post from Qualcomm executive Alex Katouzian from MWC, which was discovered by 91Mobiles. The post has since been edited, but a bit late now. Whoops.
If true, the Phone (2) will have the same chipset as the OnePlus 10T and may very well imply a powerful phone at a competitive price, allowing Nothing to capitalize on Pei’s “cheap flagship” tagline from his time at OnePlus.
Cameras:
The Nothing Phone (1)’s twin 50Mp main and ultrawide cameras were actually rather good, and maybe the greatest problem we found in our evaluation was that the computational software wasn’t nearly strong enough to fully utilize the lenses.
We might observe a similar strategy to Google, which has frequently kept the same sensors in its Pixel cameras across successive generations while fine-tuning the software to optimize their performance, as Carl Pei has stated that the business is focused on developing the software for the new model.

Battery life:
The battery life of the Nothing Phone (1) was a major flaw. Although 5000mAh would be preferable, the 4500mAh battery itself is very typical, but it fast ran out of power when the display was on. The maximum charging speed cap of 33W, which is lower than many Android phones of comparable price, was added to this.
It is possible that further improvements would solve the problem—software updates have been shown to improve battery life—but a battery upgrade would also benefit the Nothing Phone (2).
One report from MySmartPrice set out some of the specifications that might be included in the new smartphone. The Snapdragon 8-series processor, 12GB of RAM (with virtual RAM), 256GB of storage, an AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, and a 5000mAh battery were listed as the specifications for Nothing. It may be some time before we know for sure whether any of this materializes, but this fits many of our suspicions.
