Eloise is an erratic, faded fashionista. Bradley is a glum but wily teenager.

In need of help to write her racy 1960s memoirs, the former 'shock frock' fashion guru tolerates his common ways. Unable to remember his name, she calls him Boy. Desperate to escape a brutal home life, he puts up with her bossiness and confusing notes.

Both guard secrets. How did she lose her fame and fortune? What's he scheming - beyond getting his hands on her bank card? And just what's hidden in that mysterious locked room?

I'd no expectations when I read this book. It sounded like a fun read and something a bit different. The chapters bounced back and forth between Bradley and Eloise's point of view. I enjoy books that use this structure as you get more than one perspective from the same events. Bradley really develops as a character. At first, he sneaks around behind Eloise's back and goes through her things looking for something of value to steal and sell. However, as he learns Eloise's story he warms to her and determines to help her. Eloise's chapters are scenes and events from her colourful life and also reveal how she lost everything. They include funny notes to Bradley who's helping her write her memoir. I fell in love with both Bradley and Eloise. This is a very sad book but full of life and love as well.
