I’ve seen better
- Last week, the team publicly came out as Gatchaman as a public relations move.
- Summary: With Rui losing everything, he has no choice but to team up with the Gatchaman to help them stop Katze from making the Earth’s inhabitants from destroying the planet. But now with the CROWDS being controlled by Katze under the guise of Rui, they are being persuaded to cause untold amounts of havoc in the city. They level buildings and make terroristic threats under the name “The Neo Hundred”. Hajime then decides that the best course of action is to undergo another “PR campaign” by posting a video of the Gatchaman and Rui explaining what’s happening with CROWDS and GALAX and warning the public about Katze once more. Once they finish their campaign, they’re called to JJ’s chamber, where they decide to cut their ties with him.
And you won’t be with that attitude!
- My Take: Wow, so a lot of crazy stuff is happening! Massive destruction! Buildings toppling in on themselves! And all within the bounds of reason (well, as reasonable as this show gets). This was another episode that I found myself having a blast with.
Now that’s some harsh internet criticism
- So long to JJ. As the team is getting less and less information from JJ, they decide to sever their ties with him so that they can take the action they feel is necessary to stop Katze. I’m not too sad about this, since he was only present in a couple of episodes. That, and the fact that he isn’t even a real character. He never says anything, nor does anything, and his involvement in the series (except for the first episode, of course) is pretty close to useless. I only wonder if he’ll be featured in any newer episodes, such as giving him an actual character arc. Maybe they actually have something grand planned for him in the end. But I’m hoping more for something O.D does in the end than something JJ could do.
- Speaking of O.D, we get a little more info about him! Apparently, if he were to “spread his wings”, everything will essentially be destroyed, making his eventual transformation seem to be meaningless. How could these people make a character like O.D so freaking interesting? After giving it a lot of thought, my favorite aspect about him is that he’s an alien, yet we don’t know anything about aliens in this universe. We know they exist, and we know they live among humans, but that’s all we know. That alone makes not only O.D, but Paiman, Katze, and even JJ, have a lot more depth than any of the human characters.
- I was wrong. I didn’t know how Rui was going to deal with the Gatchaman. I thought that he was going to battle them in a “battle of the ideologies” type thing a couple of episodes back. I never really imagined that he’d join them. However, if his situation were any different (if GALAX wasn’t taken from him, that is), I bet I would have been right! Anyway, I’m wrong about that speculation, but that’s something I love about Gatchaman Crowds; it keeps you guessing, and it’s genuinely exciting when things don’t turn out how you predicted.
- Paiman was just as pathetic as usual in this episode, which I always love. He is one of the worst leaders any group like this can have. I’m just waiting for the episode where he becomes the glorious leader that none of us assumed he was from the beginning of the series. Then again, I sort of do love the irony of the situation; he’s the leader, yet every other member of the team would make a better leader than he does. It’s actually quite funny, so I don’t know which path I’d be more satisfied with!
You might think I’m going to say something about the 12 million views on this YouTube clone, but I’m more interested in the video called “One flower which b- ash spot”
- Needless to say, I enjoyed this episode. After many good, dialog dependent episodes, we get a good, off-the-wall action episode.
