Cross Manage Chapter 40

  • Quick Summary of Ch 39: After butting heads in the previous chapter, thanks to their talks with Ryo and Chiumi respectively, Sakurai and Misora eventually come to an understanding, and this allows her to get back on the field despite her injury. One problem: her team’s down 5-1 with 9:28 left.

Cross Manage Chapter 40 2

  • Summary of Chapter 40: Misora returns to the field with a smile on her face, but she also returns to see her Fujioka teammates (or mainly Saiga) worn out and tired of facing Choran. However, just her presence and Sakurai’s return raises their energy, which creates a situation where Choran’s best player, Nanime, can’t even score against Komatsu. That’s right, Komatsu! This leads to a moment where Misora finds herself open, it takes forever for the ball to get to her, she gets the ball, she faces Namime, and…she fakes out Namine.

  • My Take: …Actually, whether or not she did fake out Namine (since she did attempt to pass) is a bit up for debate. But I guess I’ll talk about that moment later, since it does lead to a pretty dire situation for Misora.

Cross Manage Chapter 40 3

  • Anyways, finally. It’s been how many weeks ago that this lacrosse match between Choran and Fujioka got started right? And now, it concludes with the obvious realization that shows why you can’t take the enjoyment of Lacrosse out of those foolish kids at Fujioka Namine, and it involves some guy named Sakurai. Oh and Misora, who took her cues from Sakurai. The basic point is in anything you do, you might be one of those people that can’t enjoy what they do, you might be one of those people that do enjoy what you do, you might be Namine who’s very good at what she does but doesn’t enjoy it, or you might be Misora who’s really really awful at what she does yet she does enjoy it. For the sports related part, yes, winning can be the cure all for everything, except you can’t always win at everything. Does that mean you have to always accept losing all the time? Not really, and especially so if you’re a competitive person. So what do you do? You try and get better, but get better because you really like what you’re doing, and try not to lose that spirit as you keep going. Easier said than done of course. But it’s clear that part might have reached Namine. I wonder what her response will be?

  • I thought it was cool Sugita ended up talking to Sakurai about letting Misora play in the match. It’s not a surprise that Sakurai would still be feeling down about letting Misora play without getting her properly checked, so it was nice for the team’s advisor to actually be useful. Yeah, he’s still pretty useless and unmemorable, but finally, I can give him credit for stepping in at the right time. That all being said…

Cross Manage Chapter 40 1

  • It would be a killer if this fake out by Misora, which seems to have even thrown off Namine, ends up turning her swollen knee into something tearing. Obviously don’t know how serious it is, and in this case, Misora’s learninghow to play hurt (athletes eventually have to do that at some point) — but if there’s more matches in her future, then for her to make the knee worse than it is would be pretty crushing. Heh, in thinking about what happens in next week’s chapter, I wouldn’t be surprised if she finishes her move but somehow manages to miss getting the goal to make it 5-2. For an “unpredictable” character in Misora, it would be pretty unpredictable.
