Notes from the Book “The Coaching Habit”

By Bonirulzz @bonirulzz

Ask one question at a Time. Just ONE question!

Seven Questions for Coaching:

  • What’s on Your Mind?
  • And What Else?
  • What’s the Real Challenge for You?
  • What Do you Want?
  • How Can I Help?
  • If you are saying yes to this, what are you saying no to
  • What was the most useful for you? (what did you learn out of this) – this is the best question, should be asked everytime you train someone.

Example Flow of talk:

Open with:

What’s on your mind?

the perfect way to start a question, the question is open but focused

Checkin:

Is there anything else on your mind?

Give the person an option to share additional concerns

Then begin to focus

So what’s the real challenge for you?

Already the conversation has deepen. Your job now is to find what’s most useful to look at.

Ask:

And what else (is the real challenge here)
