I've been working on these two new abstract flower paintings for a while now, but looking at them together, I decided I didn't like the background color. It seemed to clash with the flower colors, and did not pick up the tints within the flowers.
I mixed a thin wash of light green, water and glaze medium which I used to paint over the whole background on both paintings. I even painted over the vines, leaves, and berry shapes, leaving only the foreground flowers.
Then I decided the first painting really needed those red berry shapes in the background, so I repainted those.
Am I happier now? Do these look better or worse?
