I developed a fondness for the F-20 while in college. This was big brawny brother of the graceful, svelte sister design, the T-38 Talon. Northrop gambled over $1.2B that sales would develop when folks saw how good the Tigershark was. Known as ”one of the best fighters that never went into production”, only three were completed and two crashed during flight demonstrations. Northrop cancelled the program in 1986 and the sole survivor now flies formation with a T-38 in this museum atrium. HDR photo.
