Public Policy Polling has released their latest state survey on the presidential race. This time they questioned North Carolina voters. The survey was done between August 14th and 16th of a random sample of 406 Republican voters and 477 Democratic voters. The margin of error for Republicans is 4.9 points, and for Democrats is 4.5 points.
Donald Trump (24%) has a huge lead among North Carolina Republicans -- 10 points over his nearest competitor. The surprise, for me, is that Ben Carson (14%) finished in second place. He scored 1 point more than Jeb Bush (13%), 4 points ahead of Ted Cruz (10%), and 5 points ahead of Marco Rubio (9%). No other candidate topped 6%.
Hillary Clinton maintains a big lead among North Carolina Democrats with 55% -- 36 points ahead of Bernie Sanders (19%). Webb finished with 5%, and no other candidate could do better than 2%.
