First flown in 1935, more than 15,000 of these iconic warbirds were produced and served in air forces around the world as late as 1995. The D-variant was basically an AT-6B but with a 24V DC electrical system, 4388 were built. This Texan wears the colors of the South African Air Force which operated the type from 1942-1995. The SAAF roundel on this aircraft was used from 1957 to 1994, with a springbok inside a silhouette of Cape Town castle. Nikon D7100 w/18-200mm, processed with Aperture.
