July 2019

A peek inside the tandem cockpits of a Texan trainer on static display at the Grass Valley Airshow.  The United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) and USAAF designated the iconic Texan as the AT-6, while the United States Navy labeled them SNJ.  1573 AT-6Ds transferred from the US Army Air Corps as SNJ-5.  SNJ-5Cs were converted as deck landing trainers with tailhook arresting gear.  This aircraft carries the seal for the Centennial of Naval Aviation, a milestone celebrated during 2011 by the United States Navy (USN), United States Marine Corps (USMC), and the United States Coast Guard (USCG).  Nikon D500 w/Tamron 150-600mm.
