Photographed at the Hiller Aviation Museum’s Biggest Little Air Show, John Collver flies this Texan, named “War Dog”, on the West Coast airshow circuit. First flown in 1935, this iconic aircraft served in air forces around the world and finally retired from active duty in 1995 from the South African Air Force. “War Dog” was built in Texas in 1944, saw duty in various U.S. bases before retirement and assignment to the Japanese Self Defense Force until 1974.
