Named after the Navajo Nation, the SM-64 Navaho was a Mach 3 intercontinental cruise missile built by North American Aviation. The first launch attempt in November 1956 failed after 26 seconds of flight, followed by ten more failed launches. Officially the program was canceled on 13 July 1957, although the rocket engine development led to successful designs for Atlas, Thor and Titan engines. This sole surviving Navaho was damaged by Hurricane Matthew in October 2016, but was restored and reinstalled in March 2021. iPhone 12 photo.
