P-51 warbird “Kimberly Kaye” on display during the 2008 Pacific Coast Dream Machines airshow. This Mustang was sold surplus for $826.26 back in 1957!  At one point in her postwar history, this aircraft was in service with the Indonesian Air Force and eventual display in an Indonesian military cemetery before returning to the U.S. in 1985.  More than 8100 of the D-model were produced, contributing to the total of 15,000 Mustangs built for the war. After World War II, the P-51 Mustang served in the air forces of over 55 countries.  Panasonic DMC-FZ30 photo.
