P-51 warbird “Merlin’s Magic” on static display during the 2007 Pacific Coast Dream Machines airshow.  Christened “Merlin’s Magic” in 1994, this Mustang raced at Reno from 2000-2011.  At one point in her postwar history, this aircraft was in service with the Armed Forces of Haiti until being damaged in a midair collision with another P-51.  More than 8100 of the D-model were produced, contributing to the total of 15,000 Mustangs built for the war. After World War II, the P-51 Mustang served in the air forces of over 55 countries.  Panasonic DMC-FZ30 photo.
